I have the tactics to frustrate Al Ahly – Augustine Evans Adotey
A confident and buoyant looking Medeama SC coach, Augustine Evans Adotey believes he has the technical know-how to frustrate defending champions, Al Ahly. The Ghanaians are in Egypt for their first CAF Champions League group stage match against Africa’s club of the century.
“I also have my secret under my sleeve to frustrate Ahly and go back to Ghana with a positive result,” Adotey told media at the pre-match press conference.
Adotey was not even moved when asked how the team would deal with South African Percy Tau who has been finding the net regularly.
“I am not here to tell you, the media, that we are coming here to defend. We defend to attack and attack to defend,” the confident Adotey proclaimed.
The Medeama coach believes that with his eleven men on the field playing the eleven of Al Ahly, there is a chance of victory on Saturday.
“There is no pressure on me. Whether Al Ahly are playing in their background or at a neutral venue. All I am telling my boys to get ready because we are Al Ahly who happen to be champions of Africa,” he declared.
Medeama come into the CAF Champions League for the first time after winning the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League. They will have their work cutout to get anything from Cairo, but if the players feed off Adotey’s confidence then the trip back to Ghana might be a happier one.
