SAFA has issued yet another statement that defends its financial dealings as a Scorpio investigation revealed a number of alleged own goals by Dr. Danny Jordaan and his committee. In a damning report, it is alleged that money has found its way into the personal pockets of Dr. Jordaan, CFO Gronie Hluyo, and team doctor Dr. Thulani Ngwenya.

According to a report published in the Daily Maverick, SAFA has benefited over 4 million rands in payments between 2011 and 2018. There is an alleged “President’s Discretionary Fund” that is allegedly controlled by Jordaan and seems to cater to his personal expenses using SAFA money. The Scorpio investigation cited a R30 000 payment to Bafana Bafana technical committee chairperson, Jack Maluleke after he ‘contracted COVID-19.’

SAFA has denied all allegations, labeling them as malicious.

“The articles contained distorted information that cannot go unchallenged as once again, this a recycling of the same old false information that has been peddled in the past,” read a statement from SAFA.

The statement from SAFA does not directly deal with the alleged payments to Jordaan, Hluyo, and Ngwenya but deals with the hiring of Grit Communications and Badger Security Services, amongst other issues. Grit Communications was hired to provide public relations services at the height of the Dr. Jordaan rape allegations while Badger Security Services provided bodyguards around the time of the 2018 elections.

SAFA says they have all the documents needed to clear their name and look forward to presenting them ‘sooner rather than later’ in a court of law.
