A dejected Bafana Bafana now look ahead to must-win game against Namibia

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos must now lead a dejected Bafana Bafana in what he terms a must-win game against neighbours Namibia. This comes after a 2-0 defeat against Mali in the opening Group E game at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Percy Tau missed a penalty in a first half which should have ended with Bafana Bafana in the lead given the team’s dominance and chances created.

“If we don’t win that game (against Namibia), we are in a very bad situation. Now we play Namibia and I think we have to win, even with a draw it will be difficult to go through the group stages,” Broos told a post-match media briefing.

Bafana Bafana’s hopes lie in that first half performance which saw no less than five shots on target. Evidence Makgopa was a handful and caused both centre backs to end the half on a yellow card each.

“I will tell the boys that if we can go out like we played, I’m sure we can win against Namibia,” emphasised Broos.

“We gave away two goals. For the second goal, we lost the ball in a place we didn’t have to and then the game was finished.I think if we had scored the penalty, the game would be different, but, this is a comment after the game and it doesn’t change the results,” a dejected Broos explained.

South Africa will have to put a 90-minute performance against neighbours Namibia who beat a lethargic Tunisia to record a first ever AFCON win.
