Sichone Names Final 28-Man Zambia Squad for AFCON 2025
Zambia head coach Moses Sichone has officially unveiled his 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, narrowing down from an initial provisional list of 55 players.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday evening, Sichone said preparations are progressing well as Chipolopolo gear up for their final pre-tournament camp in Spain. The squad is expected to fully assemble before departure, with potential friendly matches lined up against DR Congo and Ivory Coast.
A Balanced Squad With a Clear Vision
Sichone praised the character and quality of his selected group, describing it as a strong mix of youth and experience capable of competing on the biggest African stage. He also urged Zambians to rally behind the team as they face a demanding AFCON campaign.

Communication With Omitted Players
The coach highlighted the importance of maintaining good relationships with players who didn’t make the final squad. He stated that he reached out to each of them personally to keep morale high and stressed that future opportunities remain open.
A Challenging Group Awaits
Zambia head into a tough Group that includes:
- Morocco (hosts)
- Mali
- Comoros
Chipolopolo will need to be at their very best as they seek to progress from one of the competition’s most competitive pools.
