Squad worries for Hunt ahead of busy week for Supersport
Supersport United coach, Gavin Hunt, has expressed his worries over the size of his squad ahead of a busy week for the Pretoria side. Matsatsantsa A Pitori have CAF Confederation Cup games with a local game sandwiched in between.
“Obviously our squad size is a problem, I mean it’s a huge problem. Players can’t play obviously on Wednesday as well and that thins us even more. So I’ve got to be careful what type of squad I take,” explained Hunt who has been away on a CAF A licence course.
Supersport are away to Modern Future for their first group stage game in the CAF Confederation Cup and Hunt hinted he will use a lot more of the youngsters that form the bulk his squad.
“These kids have to step up a little bit now, and it’s a great platform for them playing in this CAF Confed thing,” noted the experienced coach.
Modern Future sit third on the Egypt Premier League log behind CAF Champions League participants, Pyramids and Al Ahly. The club also has huge midweek game against Zamalek before returning to the continental stage. Gavin Hunt expects a different type of game come Sunday.
“They’re not a bad football side. Obviously it’s much slower game of football up North but we’ve got to adapt,” stressed the former Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs mentor.
