Super Cup Winner Benchikha Call It Quits
Barely two weeks after winning the CAF Super Cup, Abelhak Benchikha has called it quits at USM Alger. Benchinkha was apparently upset after being heckled by a group of fans at the club’s training session.
According to USM Alger’s Facebook page, the coach was about to conduct a training session when he was confronted by a group hurling obscene insults at him. Benchikha immediately tendered his resignation.
“Coach Abdelhak Benchikha announced his resignation as coach of USM Alger today,” stated the club’s post on Facebook.
USM Alger has lost two matches to kick off the Algerian league with the latest one, a 1-0 loss to JS Kabylie leading to the angry confrontation with the fans. The news caused split reactions amongst supporters of the great club as some felt the group who insulted Banchikha did not represent the majority of the fans.
